Emergency Medical Care
The Department of Emergency Medical Care is located on the North Campus of NMMU in Summerstrand, Port Elizabeth and is part of the School of Clinical Care Sciences.
The EMC Department has received clearance to start with the Bachelors programme in Emergency Medical Care – B(EMC) – which is a four year full time degree on NQF level 8.
To be admitted to the B(EMC) programme, you will not only need to meet the stipulated academic requirements but also successfully pass the departmental selection process. This will entail a personal interview session together with a physical assessment.
The physical assessment will comprise of a fitness and strength assessment which will be conducted by the Biokinetics and Sports Science Unit on the South Campus. Furthermore, each candidate must successfully pass the following:
Before registration candidates will be expected to attend an orientation camp. Only 24 students will be accepted onto the programme.
